Course Program:
In this democratically-run project, students will co-create the procedures for a poetic collaboration focused on the question of whose voices are valued. Students will learn about the structures of poetry as they read thematically connected content from authors like Fatimah Asghar, Danez Smith, and Martín Espada. In the collaborative part of the project, students will write poems back and forth with a partner in an exchange of ideas.

Casey Andrews
Casey Zella Andrews is a high school English teacher at Watertown High School. She holds a BA from Hampshire College, MAT from Simmons University, and MA in Critical and Creative Thinking from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Ms. Andrews has taught at TechBoston for the past six years; before that, she worked at City on a Hill Charter School, Circuit Street, and Nava Elementary School in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ms. Andrews enjoys writing poetry, taking walks, and playing with her toddler in her free time. Ms. Andrews has never lost a push-up competition to a student, including while she was pregnant.
